Thomas Meunier is currently always in the starting line-up at BVB. However, the Belgian is still allowed to leave the club. Turkey is calling.
BVB is apparently getting rid of big earner Thomas Meunier. As the TV broadcaster Sky and transfer insider Fabrizio Romano report, among others, the Belgian is about to move to Trabzonspor. It is said that the Turkish first division club has agreed with Meunier.
However, BVB will not receive a transfer fee, but Borussia will save on the right-back’s salary. With around four million euros for the six months up to the end of the season, Meunier is one of the top earners in Dortmund. Since the transfer period in Turkey runs until February 9th, the change is still possible for several days.
Regular Ryerson is on the verge of a comeback
Meunier was out injured for months in the first half of the season before returning to the bench. But he hasn’t missed a single Bundesliga game since December and has even been in the starting line-up for the last seven games. Regular Julian Ryerson is missing due to a ligament injury, competitor Marius Wolf is out of shape. That’s why Meunier, who was actually sorted out, was so in demand recently.
Since Ryerson returned to team training on Monday, the situation at BVB will soon ease.
In addition, central defender Niklas Süle is always an option for the right defensive side.
An emergency variant could also be the Spaniard Mateu Morey, who has only played two games for Dortmund’s U23s in the 3rd league after a year-long injury break.
