BVB invests millions again

As the “Ruhr Nachrichten” reports, a major construction project is currently underway in Signal Iduna Park, the home ground of the Bundesliga runners-up: the roof girders of the west stand are being renovated.

“We already did that in the north and south last year,” said stadium manager Christian Hockenjos of the regional newspaper.

The west stand will be followed by the east stand in late summer. The construction work in the largest pure football stadium in Germany should be completed in autumn.

According to the report, BVB is investing a whopping 1.5 million euros in the measure.

In winter, Borussia had already made around three million euros available to install new video screens inside and outside the former Westfalen Stadium.

According to the “Ruhr Nachrichten”, the planned renovation of the canteen kitchens in the arena should also devour an investment sum in the double-digit million range. However, this will possibly only be carried out after the EM 2024.

BVB also relies on the home factor in the title fight

Just in time for his 50th birthday next year, the BVB stadium will shine in new splendor in many places. 81,365 spectators can currently be seated in the venue, which was opened in 1974 for the World Cup.

In the close fight for the title this season against FC Bayern, Signal Iduna Park could tip the scales: BVB have already scored a whopping 43 points and thus the most in the league in front of their home crowd in 2022/2023 (14 wins, one draw, one defeat). .
