BVB increases pressure: Nico Schulz is not allowed to go to the training camp

Dortmund increases pressure

It is an open secret that Nico Schulz should leave runners-up Borussia Dortmund. The left-back, who was tied to BVB until 2024, was unable to assert himself with the black and yellow and played 1,332 minutes in 24 games last season. Borussia would not put any obstacles in the way of the 29-year-old, but there is still a lack of concrete options. Now Dortmund are increasing the pressure on the twelve-time DFB player.

According to information from theRuhr news“ Schulz is not allowed to travel to the training camp in Bad Ragaz with the professional squad on Friday. The defender, who after a slight ligament strain in his ankle is not yet participating fully in team training, would then have to train in Dortmund either individually or with the third division reserve.

Most recently, Serie A club Lazio Roma have been linked to Schulz, but Igli Tare, the Italian sporting director, denied an interest last week. BVB should be ready to accommodate a possible buyer in terms of transfer very far in order to get Schulz, a major earner, off the payroll.

BVB coach Terzic clearly: Schulz “knows his situation”

BVB trainer Edin Terzic said after the public training session on Monday that all players had been “openly and honestly talked about their situation and prospects” – as was the case with Schulz. “Nico also knows his situation,” emphasized Terzic.

The player side had recently emphasized that Schulz could imagine a change, but did not want to be put under pressure. “Nico hasn’t played, is dissatisfied with himself, is looking for a new sporting challenge and is very open to a change. That’s how it is when it doesn’t fit, when you don’t appreciate yourself anymore,” said consultant Roger Wittmann (“Rogon”) in the “Bild” program “Intornational”. “But he’s not going to switch just so he’s switched. He’ll go to a good club and if that doesn’t work, then stay.”
