BVB: High commissions stall the Haaland deal – confusion about injury

BVB wants a timely decision

Although Erling Haaland can play for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga duel against VfL Wolfsburg (from 3:30 p.m. in the TM live ticker), his ankle injury sustained in Norway’s international match against Armenia at the end of March raises further questions: According to media reports, the 21-year-old should refrain from a more detailed medical examination. Meanwhile, the rumored change of center forward to Manchester City is only dependent on the commission payments requested by the players.

“Erling can’t be pain free yet. I received a photo: The opponent’s foot was at a 90 degree angle to the leg. That means that something will definitely be broken,” said BVB coach Marco Rose in the press conference before the Wolfsburg game. Nevertheless, the 45-year-old Haaland had played twice over 90 minutes since then. “You work out with the player how to deal with it. Do you take pictures? Don’t you take pictures? We can’t shove the boy down the drain if he doesn’t want it for himself,” Rose continued. Like both “sports1‘ as well as the ‘picture“-Zeitung, BVB have so far refrained from a more detailed medical examination at the request of the professional.

Rose on Haaland injury: “One tablet and then it should work”

Rose assumes that the injury will keep the Norwegian busy for “a few more weeks”: “If there’s something on the ligament apparatus, on the capsule, and it’s under constant strain, then it does something to the body. He might take another pill before the game and that should work.”

According to the reports, the alleged rejection of an investigation and Haaland’s vulnerability to injury given the amounts traded could also affect his expected move in the summer. The courted left foot, whose last Bundesliga goal dates back to January and who has missed 16 games in all competitions this season, can leave BVB in the summer for the rumored fixed transfer fee of 75 million euros.

However, negotiations with Manchester City, which are currently ahead in poker for Haaland, are said to stall due to the commissions for advisor Mino Raiola and agent and father Alf-Inge Haaland demanded in the course of the transfer – the latter alone are according to “picture“-Newspaper at a total of 70 million euros. City coach Pep Guardiola has already given the green light for the transfer, but the payments for Raiola and Haaland’s father still want to be pushed down.

Adeyemi transfer to BVB: Shakhtar’s Fernando tipping the scales?

BVB license player boss Sebastian Kehl denied on Saturday before the game against Wolfsburg that a transfer from Haaland was about to be completed. “No,” Kehl answered on the TV channel “Sky” when asked if someone had already registered. “We have an exit clause that is known and there is a deadline,” Kehl said, without giving any details about this deadline. “We want a decision as soon as possible,” Kehl continued. The future BVB sports director announced last week that new commitments would also depend on whether Haaland, whose contract with Westphalia runs until 2024, stays or leaves the club.

Kehl described the statements made by coach Rose about dealing with an injury to Haaland as “a bit unhappy”. Kehl stressed that BVB was dealing with the Norwegian “very, very responsibly”. “The plan is that Erling always wants to play and you always try to find a good decision together with him,” said the ex-captain, who is already looking for a potential successor for Haaland.

Borussia’s forward of choice has been Karim Adeyemi (20) from Red Bull Salzburg for months – although the clubs are said to have reached an agreement on the fee, a change has not yet been finalized. The latter could depend on the Austrians’ negotiations with Donetsk centre-forward Fernando (23), reports the Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The talks with the RB perspective potential Adeyemi replacement are therefore nearing completion.
