According to media reports, Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund was already in contact with Iván Fresneda in winter. It is unclear whether BVB will make a new attempt in the summer. The Spanish U19 national player will probably be significantly more expensive – and is openly flirting with another top club.
Just a few weeks ago, the rumor about a move from top Spanish talent Iván Fresneda to BVB flared up again. The Portuguese portal “Maisfutebol” reported at the beginning of April about advanced talks between Dortmund’s Borussia and Fresneda’s training club Real Valladolid.
However, a change of the 18-year-old right-back to BVB is becoming more and more distant. According to “The Athletic”, Valladolid could demand significantly more in the summer than the 15 million euros that had been traded as a transfer fee for Fresneda in the winter. Specifically, there is now talk of 20 million euros.
To make matters worse for BVB, the competition in the race for the Spaniard is increasing. Sporting Lisbon, among others, was last seen as a hot prospect, but now Arsenal FC probably wants to get serious.
BVB flirt fuels Arsenal speculation itself
The leaders of the Premier League, like BVB, were already on Fresneda in the winter. The Londoners are said to have been willing to pay the transfer fee of 15 million euros demanded at the time. Now it’s the player himself who is fueling the speculation again in conversation with “The Athletic”.
“I like Arteta a lot, I think he’s a great coach,” said Fresneda. “I follow the European leagues and I think the work he’s doing with his club is fantastic.”
Fresneda is regarded as a technically adept full-back with a pronounced offensive drive. It was not until September 2022 that the native of Madrilene celebrated his debut in the top Spanish division.
With 17 league appearances, Fresneda, who played for Valladolid’s B team in the previous round, found his place in the first team straight away.
