Borussia Dortmund missed the semi-finals of the club World Cup. BVB got on the losing road early on against Real Madrid.

Real Madrid catapulted an early double strike on Saturday evening to the semi-finals of the club World Cup-and at the same time let Borussia Dortmund’s title dreams burst. After a wild final phase, the “royal” defeated the BVB in the Metlife Stadium in New Jersey 3: 2 (2-0).

Gonzalo García (10th minute) and Fran García (20th) set the course for victory in the first round. Kylian Mbappé led the decision (90.+4) after Maximilian Beier (90.+3) shortened shortly before. Serhou Guirassy then met with a penalty (90.+6). Real defender Dean Huijsen saw red for the previous foul.

The renewed goal would almost have led to the big comeback. But Marcel Sabitzer then missed the giant option to 3: 3. After the FC Bayern against Paris Saint-Germain a few hours earlier (0: 2), the second and last German starter at the World Cup tournament in the USA failed in the quarter-finals.

Julian Brandt missed the first chance of the game in the initial phase (6th). Real then took over the control and the Borussians hardly came after Madrid put on the pace – although Alonso initially spared some stars like Mbappé. Real dictated the action.

After a few half chances, Arda Güler was allowed to flank freely. Gonzalo García, who represented Mbappé again, executed the lead to the lead by remarkable direct acceptance at the five -meter room. His namesake Fran García increased from six meters after a sharp cross from newcomer Trent Alexander-Arnold.

After that, Real let the opponent come and relocated to lightning -fast counterattack. A Vinícius Junior Castle after a mistake by Daniel Svensson, but raised the ball over the goal (40th). BVB coach Niko Kovač scolded: “We are too slow!”

The Croatian was willing to correct this. His means: a triple change with the restart. Among other things, NMECHA came for Pascal Groß, Maximilian Beier should provide speed for the ineffective Karim Adeyemi.

However, the BVB was not mandatory, Beier’s shot (61st) was easy prey for Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. Alonso could even allow himself to spare strength for the cracker against PSG again in the 2026 World Cup. Rüdiger missed the 3: 0 (90.+1) before it became turbulent in the final phase.
