Real Madrid narrowly prevailed in the quarter-finals of the club World Cup against Borussia Dortmund. The game was rather low for an event for a long time – but then there was a crazy final minute, including the side puller and dismissal.
The Madrilenes won 3: 2 (2-0) on Saturday evening in East Rutherford New Jersey and meet in the semi-finals on Paris Saint-Germain, which had recently switched off Bayern. The goals for the Spaniards scored Gonzalo Garcia (10th minute) and Fran Garcia (20th), Maximilian Beier shortened (90.+3) before Mbappé per dream was 3: 1 (90.+4). In the eighth minute of added time, however, Serhou Guirassy placed again to 2: 3 in the eighth minute of added time by penalty, in whose origin Dean Huijsen saw the red card.
The BVB actually came into play quite well, in the 6th minute Karim Adeyemi dribbled a little space on the left in the penalty area and flanked in the middle on the head of Julian Brandt, who put the ball from full run just past the goal. Hand -stopped 60 seconds later, on the other side, gonzalo Garcia just missed a sharp flank from the left.
Dortmund sleeps twice – a Garcia strikes twice
In the 10th minute he did it much better: Arda Güler had all the time of the world for a thoughtful flank at the corner of the penalty area and in the middle of the penalty area, the arrival Garcia had to keep his foot on the trajectory without any distress to score his fourth goal in the ongoing competition. The cross and degree were good, but were also made possible by a remarkable passivity of the BVB defense.
Exactly ten minutes later, the royal struck again with their next chance: This time a flat flank from Trent Alexander-Arnold came from the right side to the Dortmund penalty area, again the black and yellow lacked the right orientation and again an approaching Garcia was humorless-but this time it was left-back fran that entered the scorer list (20th). The second goal was visible – the Madrilenes took over the game control and Jude Bellingham would have scored 3-0 with a low shot by a hair when only 26 minutes had been completed. Dortmund hardly took place in a playful way, Vinicius Jr. slipped shortly before the break, the ball slipped over the slipper with a very promising counterattack, the halftime score of 2: 0 was absolutely okay.
Real manages the game for a long time
In the second half, BVB started again with more swing and appeared in the real penalty in the first few minutes at least in the first few minutes. However, no team really came to real goal opportunities. In the 57th minute Brandt moved out of distance and in the 60th Thibaut Courtois held a rather harmless low shot from Beier.
More did not happen for a long time because the Madrilenes had also withdrawn significantly, which mostly defended well and lurked on the counterattack. In the 67th minute, Madrid’s coach Xabi Alonso then brought Mbappé, who, together with veteran Luka Modric, brought a little more pressure into the royal attack game. In added time, Real still had one or the other chance of 3-0, but all left it.
Completely crazy injury time with a side puller, red card and the Almost compensation
Then it got turbulent: the occasions almost took revenge, because Beier scored the 1: 2 (90.+3) from nowhere from the edge of the penalty area. But the Madrilenes switched up a gear again, after a flank from the right, Mbappé managed a beautiful side puller to 3: 1 (90.+4).
The decision? Not far, because in direct return after the kick -off, Dean Huijsen grabbed the starting Serhou Guirassy to the emergency brake and was expelled from the field. Guirassy converted Knüppelhart (90.+8). And it wasn’t over: Marcel Sabitzer failed again with a volley shot on an outstanding parade of Courtois, who thus secured his royal to the semi -finals.
Overall, the victory of the Madrilenen, who controlled the game for a long time, went okay – the wild final phase was a bit over the balance. BVB can creditor, however, to have been against an absolute top team on the show until the end.
