Even after progressing in the DFB Cup at Hannover 96, the situation at Borussia Dortmund is still tense. In addition to the weak performances of the last few weeks, BVB are also plagued by injury problems. A duo will probably be missing until after the World Cup in Qatar.
Borussia Dortmund has had to do without midfield strategist Mahmoud Dahoud, who suffered a shoulder injury, since Matchday 3.
According to a report by “kicker”, the 26-year-old’s downtime will continue into the new year – a severe blow to BVB’s neck.
Dahoud’s creativity would be good for Dortmund’s currently much too static offensive game.
BVB: Also Jamie Bynoe-Gittens out until 2023?
An early return of 18-year-old shooting star Jamie Bynoe-Gittens could also liven up Borussia’s offensive game.
However, the Englishman will probably not be available to BVB until the first game in 2023 at home against FC Augsburg.
Bynoe-Gittens impressed in the early games of the season with his pace and carefree one-on-one duels. BVB is now missing this element in its squad.
Personnel concerns at BVB
The reason for the failures of the pros is a problem that is already known to both of them. Both Dahoud and Bynoe-Gittens had suffered shoulder injuries before in their careers. So far, however, these could be treated conservatively. In this case, however, BVB decided to have an operation on both players.
Dahoud and Bynoe-Gittens have meanwhile resumed running training after the successful interventions. However, it will still be some time before team training begins. Quiet hopes of a comeback before the World Cup break in mid-November are likely to be dashed.
Thus, in addition to Sébastien Haller, two other important building blocks that could help BVB in the end-of-year spurt in the Bundesliga and Champions League are missing.
