Before Borussia Dortmund kicks off the second half of the season in the Bundesliga against SV Darmstadt 98 on Saturday (6:30 p.m.), BVB coach Edin Terzic’s protégés will test against Standard Liège in the training camp in Spain.
sport.de accompanies the black and yellow test match on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m at this point in the detailed LIVE ticker.
+++ The BVB line-up is here! +++
Borussia Dortmund starts with a strong line-up against Liège. Edin Terzic sends this team into the race:
Kobel – Meunier, Süle, Hummels, Schlotterbeck – Özcan, Sabitzer – Malen, Brandt, Bynoe-Gittens – Moukoko
Meanwhile, Marco Reus (personal reasons), Emre Can (load management) and Marius Wolf and Mateu Morey (both infections) are missing in the short term.
+++ How does BVB react to the damper? +++
When Borussia Dortmund takes on Standard Liège at the Marbella Football Center on Tuesday morning (kick-off at 11 a.m.), Edin Terzic’s team will be hoping for a positive result after they only managed a draw against AZ Alkmaar in the first test of the winter break. The final score was 2:2 in the game, which was played over four periods of 30 minutes each.
Against the Dutch first division club, Terzic, who was trusted by the BVB bosses before the turn of the year and was also given two new assistants, ex-players Nuri Sahin and Sven Bender, sent a very prominent starting eleven into the race.
In the end, only Marcel Sabitzer and Marco Reus scored for BVB, who were able to equalize the Dutch’s clear lead thanks to the duo’s goals. “It was a game that you have to divide into the first 60 minutes and the second 60 minutes,” said Terzic after the game. The complete match report can be found here.
+++ Can Liège be dangerous for BVB? +++
After the game against Alkmaar, fourth in the Dutch Eredivisie, BVB now has to play against ninth in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League on Tuesday. On paper, a feasible task for the runner-up.
Will Dortmund be in a good mood against Standard Liège in order to catch up in the upcoming Bundesliga games?
Currently in fifth place, BVB is clearly lagging behind its own expectations. They are already six points behind fourth place in the Champions League, and leaders Bayer Leverkusen are ahead by a whopping 15 points.
