Handball national player Amelie Berger (Borussia Dortmund) has been out for at least six months due to a cruciate ligament rupture in her right knee. This was announced by BVB and the German Handball Association (DHB) on Monday.
Right winger Berger will miss the first course of the year at the end of February in Düsseldorf and the other European Championship qualifiers at the end of April. Even their participation in the European Championship tournament in November in Slovenia, Montenegro and North Macedonia appears to be in acute jeopardy.
“Amelie will certainly be out for six to eight months. The only good news is that no other ligaments or the meniscus were damaged. Then the forced break would have been even longer,” said BVB coach Andre Fuhr.
