BVB: Corona puzzles about Marco Reus

Borussia Dortmund are plagued by increasing staff worries: BVB captain Marco Reus will also miss Sunday’s Bundesliga game against Arminia Bielefeld (5:30 p.m.). Erling Haaland and Giovanni Reyna, on the other hand, are about to return to the matchday squad.

According to BVB coach Marco Rose, Marco Reus is “sick at home” two days before the game against promoted Bielefeld.

Rose did not explicitly state at the BVB press conference whether Reus had been infected with the corona virus. The “Ruhr news” reported. Reus had already missed BVB team training on Wednesday.

The attacker would be the third professional to watch Arminia because of a corona infection. Raphael Guerreiro and Mats Hummels are currently in isolation.

BVB has massive personnel problems

In view of numerous injuries, the personnel situation at BVB is becoming increasingly precarious. “I brought a note with me so I wouldn’t forget anything,” Rose said.

“Manuel Akanji is out, he’s partly back in training. Not yet with the team, but with the rehabilitation coach. The overall trend is positive,” said Rose.

Right-back Thomas Meunier (torn tendon) and Mateu Morey (rehabilitation after cruciate ligament rupture) and the two corona sufferers Hummels and Guerreiro are joined by Dan-Axel Zagadou, who is still in rehab after surviving a torn muscle fiber.

Due to the numerous absences, defensive talent Soumaila Coulibaly could celebrate his debut in the Bundesliga at the weekend. “We don’t have that many central defenders anymore. Of course he’s an option, but it’s difficult to make a statement there right now,” said Rose.

Erling Haaland ready for a short assignment at BVB

BVB is missing Youssoufa Moukoko on the offensive, who is still suffering from a torn muscle fiber. Attacker Steffen Tigges injured his left ankle on Wednesday and needs an operation. For the striker, the season is over early.

BVB is therefore all the more eager for a comeback from superstar Erling Haaland, who was at least able to train again during the week. Giovanni Reyna also gives reason for hope.

“Haaland is back in team training and an option for the weekend. But he’s been out for months. He’s an option for a part-time job, not for longer. That also applies to Reyna,” Rose shared the positive news for BVB fans with.
