BVB calls for the game against Werder Bremen to be postponed

It will still be more than a month before the game between Borussia Dortmund and Werder Bremen opens the eighth matchday of the Bundesliga on October 20th: At BVB, however, the schedule is already causing gloomy faces.

BVB denounces the fact that a large number of the black and yellow stars will most likely have to play against Mexico in Philadelphia on October 18th at 2:00 a.m. Central European time as part of the DFB team’s US trip. Back in Germany, the entourage is only expected around 24 hours before the start of the Bundesliga game against Werder Bremen.

According to “Bild”, people in Dortmund simply feel disadvantaged due to this tight schedule. According to the newspaper, sports director Sebastian Kehl has already contacted the DFL and requested that the game be postponed.

“This appointment is extremely unfortunate for us. The issues are the time difference and the return flight, as regeneration is important,” Kehl expressed his lack of understanding to “Sky” in mid-August. BVB national player Niklas Süle recently explained: “In my opinion, that’s not a very good choice. I see it with my colleagues who travel somewhere and come back with jet lag.”

BVB probably doesn’t have any good chances

However, BVB’s prospects of success are probably not particularly great. On the one hand, the distance between the kick-off of the DFB game and the Bundesliga encounter corresponds purely formally to the rules, and on the other hand, the streaming service “DAZN” is supposed to insist on the date.

“We don’t have any information that would suggest a postponement of the game. We are firmly planning on Friday,” a spokesman for the company confirmed to “Bild”.

If BVB changes its mind about the broadcaster – according to the report, talks have not yet been held – this should not change anything, as the DFL should also insist on a meeting on Friday evening, it is said.
