There are a few changes coming up at Borussia Dortmund in the summer. BVB Managing Director Hans-Joachim Watzke has now commented on the hottest topics relating to the black and yellow and took a stand on Erling Haaland, Mats Hummels and Co.
For Borussia Dortmund, the remaining three games of the season are no longer of great importance. Consequently, BVB can already take care of personnel planning for the coming season.
Erling Haaland will most likely leave the club. “At the end of the day, the truth is that we gave him an exit clause – otherwise he would have gone to Manchester United. He has to make a decision, it will come at some point,” revealed managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke on Friday at “19:09 – the black and yellow talc” thatRuhr news” was organised.
Even if the 21-year-old changed, it would “continue”, assured the BVB boss. “If Borussia Dortmund can do one thing, it’s finding the next one. A team always makes more than a player,” said Watzke.
Watzke: BVB without pressure at Adeyemi
Karim Adeyemi from RB Salzburg is a hot candidate for the Dortmund offensive. “If he came, we would try to get it done without an exit clause. But I won’t give a water level report,” said Watzke about the state of the national player: “We’re not under pressure. I think the player has more or less the feeling conveys that he wants to go to BVB. We have to manage that somehow.”
Nico Schlotterbeck is also being closely associated with Borussia these days. “He has risen like a rocket over the past few months, has a good demeanor and above all self-confidence,” said Watzke when asked about SC Freiburg’s central defender, adding: “It’s no secret that we think he’s good.”
Niklas Süle, on the other hand, has already agreed to BVB and will come from FC Bayern on a free transfer in the summer. “He said relatively early on that he wanted to join BVB. A title with Borussia Dortmund would have a completely different meaning,” said the 62-year-old, looking at the defender’s transfer. Süle is “a down-to-earth boy and a great guy”.
Watzke leaves BVB future of Reus and Hummels open
In addition, Watzke commented on the sporting future of Marco Reus and Mats Hummels. The BVB duo is under contract with the Westphalians until 2023.
“If a player is well over 30, you have to see how long he’s still able to perform at his best. We’ll wait and see, you can’t predict it. Next season we’ll have the talks and look us straight in the eye,” said Dortmund’s official about the perspective of the two veterans.
Watzke is certain: “Both players have great merits. The trust is there one hundred percent.”
