If Borussia Dortmund becomes active in the transfer market next summer, an unexpectedly large budget could be available. Because several ex-stars can expect additional or bonus payments. On the other hand, BVB also has to give additional money to the former clubs for obligations, as has now been revealed.
For runner-up Borussia Dortmund, who are currently floundering through the Bundesliga, there will (have to be) numerous changes in the squad after the season at the latest; that is already foreseeable. But how much money does those responsible have at their disposal, given that there are no signs of top sales this season like in previous years? The answer: Apparently more than expected.
Because exactly the last two big sales – Jude Bellingham (summer 2023 to Real Madrid: 103 million euros transfer) and Erling Haaland (summer 2022 to Manchester City: 60 million euros transfer) – are flushing more money into the coffers, like “Sport Bild” has experienced.
For the two former stars, BVB expects additional bonus payments of around ten million euros. But not only that.
At Bellingham, according to the magazine, a third of the transfer rates were agreed with Real, so that the BVB account will be filled by around 33 million euros. Other past sales of players that are not mentioned in more detail could also bring in (remaining) amounts.
In addition, those responsible at Borussia hope to collect an additional 10.6 million euros in bonuses by advancing to the quarter-finals in the Champions League. However, this requires a success over PSV Eindhoven, where ex-BVB coach Peter Bosz is at the helm.
BVB has to pay millions more for Füllkrug
In addition to the expected income, the Dortmund team definitely has to plan for further expenses, because further payments of millions are necessary for Niclas Füllkrug, who was brought in from Werder Bremen shortly before the end of the transfer deadline.
According to “Sport Bild”, the clubs had agreed on a two-part installment payment of the basic transfer fee of 15 million euros. This means that a good seven million euros will flow from BVB to the SVW account in the summer.
The Black and Yellows had recently had to pay a bonus payment of 500,000 euros to the Weser for Füllkrug due to their qualification for the knockout stages of the premier class.
