BVB bad luck with injuries: long breaks for Reyna and Hummels

Dortmund (AP) – Borussia Dortmund is not spared from bad luck with injuries in the season finale.

As the Bundesliga club announced, the season for Giovanni Reyna ended prematurely. Defense chief Mats Hummels will also be out for several weeks. Both pros were substituted in the 2-0 (1-0) game in Stuttgart last Friday.

19-year-old Reyna was diagnosed with a muscle and tendon injury. After a similar injury last September, the American international was out for around five months. Hummels sustained a muscle injury in his thigh.

Further investigations should reveal whether coach Marco Rose will also have to do without Mahmoud Dahoud for the time being. Like Reyna and Hummels, the midfielder was unable to finish the game in Stuttgart after falling on his shoulder. Even before leaving for Stuttgart, Dutch international Donyell Malen pulled a tendon in training.
