In the summer of 2021, BVB secured the services of PSG super talent Abdoulaye Kamara. Now those responsible at Borussia Dortmund have apparently made a decision about the future of the young Frenchman.
If the decision-makers at BVB have their way, top talent Abdoulaye Kamara will no longer wear the black and yellow jersey in the 2024/25 season. This is what the usually well-informed “Ruhr Nachrichten” reports. A year before the expiry of his contract, which is valid until 2025, the paths are likely to part.
One thing is clear: the now 19-year-old did not make his breakthrough at Borussia Dortmund in his third year either. Instead of gaining experience with the professionals like other former U19 players, the central midfielder is still only part of the second team squad, where he plays in the 3rd league.
BVB missed better integration of Kamara
After he made 16 starting eleven appearances and four substitutions for BVB II in the previous season, the trend in the current season is more towards supplementary players. Coach Jan Zimmermann has only used the Frenchman eleven times so far, and he was only allowed to start four times. However, Kamara was recently set back by a torn muscle fiber and has not played a game since mid-December.
The youngster’s susceptibility to injury is probably one of the reasons why the signs point to a separation in the summer. As the “Ruhr Nachrichten” also reports, Kamara is considered an idiosyncratic type who is always offended within the team. However, BVB failed to better integrate the talented midfielder.
Borussia Dortmund are now hoping that Kamara can once again exploit his potential over the course of the second half of the season and thus attract interested parties for a move in the summer. As a result, BVB could ultimately even generate a transfer fee for the 19-year-old.
