National player Karim Adeyemi will not be available to Borussia Dortmund for around three weeks. BVB confirmed this in a club announcement on Monday afternoon.
Adeyemi suffered a torn muscle fiber in Sunday’s game against Hertha BSC (4-1), the statement said.
So BVB has to play a few important games without the winger, who has been in good form lately.
First up is the Bundesliga game against 1899 Hoffenheim on Saturday. This is followed by the prestigious duel against RB Leipzig (March 3), the second leg in the Champions League round of 16 at Chelsea (March 7) and the district derby at FC Schalke 04 (March 11), which is also too early for Adeyemi should come.
BVB: When will Karim Adeyemi make his comeback?
It remains to be seen whether the 21-year-old will be available again for BVB’s league home game against 1. FC Köln (March 18).
Adeyemi scored the goal to make it 1-0 (27th) himself against Hertha BSC, but sustained the injury while preparing for Donyell Malen’s second goal (32nd). Then he had to be replaced.
The English youngster Jamie Bynoe-Gittens took his place on the wing and now has more playing time in the coming weeks.
Significant improvement in performance in the BVB jersey since the beginning of the year
Even before the diagnosis and downtime were announced, Adeyemi spoke up for himself via Instagram. “Don’t worry, I’ll be back soon!” Was his combative message on the social network.
Born in Munich, he switched from Red Bull Salzburg to BVB for around 30 million euros before the season. In his first half of the year, he was plagued by major teething problems. Adeyemi has only been one of the top performers in coach Edin Terzic’s team since the beginning of the year.
In total, he has been involved in nine goals in 24 competitive games in the BVB jersey.
