Contract until 2023
Next summer marks the tenth anniversary of Marco Reus’ transfer to Borussia Dortmund. In addition to Mats Hummels, the 32-year-old, who switched from Mönchengladbach to the Black and Yellows in 2012 for a fee of around 17 million euros, is now one of the absolute veterans in the BVB squad across all competitions – from the record players to the most expensive additions to the Top scorers: In hardly any statistic does the right foot not appear far up front. If it were up to the offensive power, the career should also come to an end in his hometown.
When asked whether Reus could imagine extending his working paper at Borussia, which expires in 2023, the 48-time national player explained in the “Bild am Sonntag”: “Okay, yes. (…) BVB is my club, Dortmund is my hometown and I would like to end my career here.”
The attacking midfielder, who has already contributed to 13 goals in 19 Bundesliga games this season, has played a total of 344 competitive games for BVB to date (149 goals, 105 assists).

Reus’ advice to BVB striker Haaland: “Stay with us”
The Dortmund captain also commented on the much-discussed personality Erling Haaland and confirmed his desire to work with the Norwegian for as long as possible. If the 21-year-old asked him for advice, he would say: “Stay with us, here you have everything you need to develop. Here he can play in the Champions League, score goals and feel valued to the maximum.”

Haaland, who could leave BVB this summer for a reported transfer fee of 75 million euros before his contract expires at the end of June 2024, is being courted by numerous top European clubs. “He ultimately has to decide for himself what feels best for him. It would be a great pity if he left, but even then things would continue and we would find solutions again as a collective.”
