Buying without looking couple expected more from purchased house: ‘Let it sink in’ | show

They had expected more from their purchased home. That’s what Wèralucía and Said said in a new episode of Monday evening Buy without looking acquaintances to presenter Martijn Krabbé. Their concerns turned out to be unfounded, because the couple couldn’t believe their eyes when they unveiled their new, renovated home. “Wow, look, the kitchen”, it sounded enthusiastically.

In recent years, 34-year-old Wèralucía and her partner Said, who is four years her senior, have been unable to find the perfect home for their composite family. The problem? The different desires of the two. For example, Said wanted a driveway and a large garden and Wèralucía preferred a kitchen island and a bath. And then there was the location, where Wèralucía made demands. Said thought it was all right, as long as the house was somewhere in the middle of the Netherlands.

Helped out of dreams

Because the couple couldn’t figure it out themselves, the arrival of the team was of Buy without looking more than welcome. But Wèralucië and Said were soon helped out of their dreams by estate agent Alex van Keulen. Their budget of 550,000 was more than fine, but the package of requirements made the search a lot more difficult. For example, the couple wanted a home of at least 135 square meters in a child-friendly neighborhood, with at least four bedrooms (but preferably five) and that in the area of Amersfoort, Harderwijk, Nijkerk, Huizen and Blaricum.

Van Keulen started his search and eventually found a modernized home in Harderwijk, which he thought would make Wèralucía and Said happy. But when the lovebirds first got a tour of their new home, disappointment was dripping from their faces. The bedrooms were not exactly to their liking and they also found the bathroom relatively small. “I think I have to let it sink in for a while,” Wèralucië said to presenter Martijn Krabbé. He gauged whether they had secretly expected more from the house. ,,Yes. Oddly enough,” she confessed.

Renovate

Fortunately, there was still 60,000 euros left to renovate. In the meantime, Krabbé had given the couple some courage, while structural engineer Bob Sikkes started working on the house. He decided to close the space around the stairs with sliding doors, installed a huge black kitchen with cooking island and had a second bathroom built in. But the challenge, according to Bob, lay mainly in the bedrooms. There should not be four children’s rooms, but five children’s rooms, as it became clear after Wèralucía and Said announced that they were expecting another small sprout.

On the day of the unveiling, Wèralucía and Said were on their nerves. Would the house be to their liking? And how would the problem with all spaces have been solved? Upon entering, a big smile appeared on their faces. One ‘wow’ after another ‘wow’ followed and when they saw their dream kitchen their eyes twinkled. The top floor was also appreciated. ,,This is really well done”, exclaimed Wèralucía.

According to stylist Roos Reedijk, the fact that there was no separate room for the future baby was not the biggest problem. The baby’s cradle could temporarily be in the walk-in closet of Wèralucië, was her idea. And if there was a need for a separate room later, concessions had to be made. “There can still be traded here in the house.”

Wèralucía and Said looked back on their adventure with satisfaction. “The house turned out really nice.”
