‘But she shouldn’t do this anymore!’

Hélène Hendriks is incredibly lucky as a TV star, because she has opinion dragon Angela de Jong at her side. The AD diva is a fan of her, but: ‘She shouldn’t do this anymore!’

It is always exciting for aspiring TV talents: will Angela de Jong like you or not? If she likes you it will save a lot of hassle, if she doesn’t like you then it will be difficult. Hélène Hendriks is lucky that the AD opinion dragon likes her so much on television. She thinks that the presenter is doing really well.

Hélène’s revenge

According to Angela, Hélène is even the presenter of 2023. “Because she took revenge in a fantastic way. On the critics, but mainly on themselves. She previously created the talk show Café Hendriks & Genee with Wilfred Genee and it turned out that she was still a little too light to carry such a current talk show.”

But she has corrected that with De Oranjezomer, Angela continues in the Weekend. “She has developed herself enormously, but above all she increasingly dares to be herself on screen. That also explains the success of De Oranjezomer. She is uninhibited, authentic and natural. No one blames her.”

‘Say no from now on’

And yet Hélène has also had quite a few flops. “’Café Hendriks & Genee was a flop and so was The Big Balance, in which she walked a tightrope with celebrities. These were programs that did not suit her or the phase in her life. You can see that she now has a little more baggage.”

Angela does think that she should absolutely no longer do such an entertainment show as The Big Balance. “I hope that from now on she will say no to programs like The Big Balance, if SBS 6 asks her something like that again.”

Great example

Hélène is also an example for the young generation. For people who do not have parents with the surname De Mol. “She is very recognizable in the way she reacts. And don’t forget what an example she is for girls like my eldest daughter, who is also thinking about a career in sports journalism. That is of unprecedented importance.”

She concludes: “I think it is great that the opportunity is offered to young women to dream about a career in sports journalism.”
