‘But Jesus, he hurts me so much’

Despite their turbulent past, Gordon still feels that he misses Gerard Joling from time to time. “Of course,” he says. “Just… I was thinking the other day: Jesus. That hurts so much!”

Gordon experienced the pinnacle of his TV fame when he made a legendary program with Gerard Joling, namely the ratings hit Joling & Gordon over the Floor. It was a huge success, the viewers were in a dent and according to critics, Gordon is actually not fun on television without Gerard.

‘hurts so much’

Gordon confesses in the podcast go-getters, which was recorded just before his controversial breakup with Gavin Rozario, that he occasionally homesick for that time. “I miss Gerard too. Naturally. Do you know how much success we had? Do you know how much we laughed? He half doesn’t realize how much success we’ve had.”

Yet he is deeply disappointed. “This week I read an article – at least that was on some site, De Telegraaf or the AD – in which he says: ‘No, I’m not coming to Gordon’s wedding. I’d rather go to a funeral. Oh, that won’t work at all!’ It went on and on. Just… I think of: Jesus. That hurts so much!”

Flowers sent

Their relationship is well damaged. “Listen, I sent flowers last year on the death of his mother. As a friend and colleague, I think that is only right. He never did that when my mother died. Then we had a fight.”

Is that why he hates Gerard? “I am someone who will never bear hatred. Hate is not an option with me. You will never have to stay angry for the rest of your life, I wasn’t either.”

Don’t call anymore

When the interviewer asks if Gordon wouldn’t even call or text him, he replies, “No, I wouldn’t.”

But weren’t they once best friends? “No, I found out very quickly.”
