One can’t wait to get the extra tables from the attic again, while the other would like to leave the screens. Bossche catering entrepreneurs are already thinking about how they will organize their business if the mandatory one and a half meters disappears later this month. And it remains to be seen whether we will sit together again.
“Some guests now like the extra space with the measures,” says Rob Sleutjes of Lokaal 1650 in the Bossche city center. “Fortunately, the terrace can open again tightly and we do that with half screens between the tables and the adjusted setup. Many guests liked it.”
Inside, Rob has made glass between some tables, and that will remain the same. “Only one table will be added that we have removed because of the measures. People also like the privacy,” says Rob. “I don’t have to stay open until one o’clock to be honest, either.”
His neighbor across the street, with a small restaurant, is still unsure whether he will return that one table that had to give way due to the measures.
But Desiree Theuns of the Seventh Heaven can’t wait to get all the tables from the attic again. “We normally have room for a hundred guests inside and now we can only seat fifty-three, that’s just not enough,” says Desiree. “We also have eleven places less outside. Together that is a serious difference. We want to go back to normal. We really missed it.”
In the restaurant opposite the Seventh Heaven, ten tables return, mainly inside. “The screens on the terrace are going away and the wine coolers are coming back,” says the owner. “There are people who like the extra spacious now and we will take that into account later.”
A little further on at restaurant ‘Dit’, it is already very busy for lunch. “And then we’re going to put two more tables back,” says the lady behind the bar. “We are cuddly and cozy and then it comes with it being full. We never have people here who ask for extra distance or privacy, we are known for having a little nap, our guests like that,” she says with a laugh. .
