Busy at Liberation Festival Assen: ‘Don’t come for the time being’

The organization of the Liberation Festival in Assen calls on you not to come to Assen for the time being, because of the crowds. Chairman Ger Boes estimates that there are between 25,000 and 35,000 people on the site. “It’s never been this busy.”

“The access roads are closed. You just don’t enter the site anymore. See you later,” says Boes. The organization provides updates on the crowds on social media. “I think it’s possible with a few again. But at the moment it’s just full.”

Boes thinks that the crowds are partly due to the Liberation Festival in Groningen, where you have to pay 5 euros to enter the site. He heard those sounds coming this week. “I heard from someone who has two bars in Groningen that everyone goes to Assen.” Incidentally, Boes says that the crowds are also due to the line-up in Assen. “We have an artist here from Groningen”, he refers to Kraantje Pappie. “Look what happens.”

The chairman beams at the site. “We have beautiful music here. And with this weather. Everyone is ready for a festival again. It couldn’t be more beautiful. It is really fantastic.”

In the article below we follow the Liberation Festival in Assen all day long. Op Radio Drenthe can hear contributions from the festival site all afternoon.
