Busy among poinsettia growers: 100,000 plants…

In the greenhouses of Anthony D’Hoore from Jabbeke, there are currently about 100,000 Christmas roses waiting to be packaged. Six people are constantly busy cleaning up the plants and then wrapping them in a plastic cover. After that, the typical end-of-year plant is mainly exported abroad.

“It is grown slightly less in France, so quite a lot of poinsettias go from Belgium and the Netherlands to France. But poinsettias are also very popular in the United Kingdom, Germany and the Scandinavian countries,” says Anthony.
