Many medium-sized companies in Germany are burdened by severe delivery bottlenecks. According to a current economic survey by the Mittelstandsverbund, 75 percent of the companies surveyed said the situation was serious. There are particularly strong bottlenecks in metal, wood, plastics, electrical appliances and electronic components as well as paper and stationery. According to Verbund, the delivery bottlenecks are most evident in delivery delays, but there are also price increases.
Nevertheless, the companies assessed their economic situation in the second quarter as mostly positive: sales continued to increase significantly, and earnings also increased slightly. The outlook for the coming months, on the other hand, is muted. According to Verbund, the delivery difficulties and high energy costs could increasingly depress the mood.
According to the information, 56 association groups with around 41,000 affiliated companies from a total of 16 sectors took part in the economic survey. The cooperations surveyed included Edeka, Rewe, Intersport and Expert. (dpa)
