Bus with schoolchildren “plunges six meters” in France: at least fourteen injured, two of them critical | Abroad

Fourteen to sixteen people were injured in a serious bus accident on the exit of the N85 in the French commune of Corps (Isère), depending on the source. The bus driver and one of the escorts are in critical condition.

According to France Bleu, the bus fell six meters. There were a total of 46 people in the vehicle. 40 of them are primary school children, between 6 and 10 years old.

The bus had left this morning from the Alps, where the group had stayed for a week. The occupants themselves come from Sceaux (Hauts-de-Seine). The intention was to drive to Grenoble station, where they would then take the train to Paris.

It is currently unknown what exactly went wrong. Ninety firefighters and a Civil Protection helicopter have arrived on the scene. The students who escaped unscathed will be accommodated in a gymnasium for the time being.
