A newly established bus lane in Berlin-Zehlendorf is disappearing. The Senate Department for the Environment, Mobility, Consumer and Climate Protection will not appeal against a decision by the Berlin Administrative Court, as a spokesman said on Friday on request.
The court had declared the bus lane illegal in summary proceedings. The track on Clayallee in the south-west of the city had to be removed within a week of the decision taking effect.
Local residents initially successfully opposed the new regulation.
According to this, only buses, ambulances, taxis and bicycles should be allowed to use the new lane Monday to Friday between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.
From the point of view of the court, however, the necessary conditions for this have not been met. The central road traffic authority did not explain the “particularly dangerous situation”, the court said. The Senate administration now hopes to be able to convince the judges in the main proceedings of the need for the trail with further explanations.
