Bus driven in half stopped at transition, images show collision

The Connexxion bus that was cut in half by a train in Bergen op Zoom, came to a standstill at the transition. A video of a witness shows how the bus stands between the railway barriers. While the bus has no way to go, a train runs right through it.

The driver was able to get out of the bus on time, police said. He was not injured. It is unclear what caused the bus to stop.

The accident happened at ten to ten at the railway crossing on Marconilaan. The devastation after the blow is enormous.

There are no trains on the route until at least half past three. The 85 passengers of the train are evacuated and taken away by bus.
