Bus and train traffic disrupted by actions and work

Bus and train traffic in Brabant was disrupted on Wednesday. Many buses will remain in the depot all day because staff are going on strike. Train traffic between Eindhoven and Weert will even come to a standstill for a whole week. The reason for this is the work of rail manager ProRail.

The strikes have been called by the unions. Staff from Arriva and Hermes/Connexxion, among others, will participate on Wednesday. Actions have also been announced for Friday. The unions have indicated that they will continue to strike until they have reached an agreement with employers on a new collective labor agreement.

On the previous strike days (6 to 10 February), about half of the regional transport was running. In a number of areas, the outage was slightly greater and a maximum of 30 percent of the buses were running.

ProRail activities
The rail work will take place on the Eindhoven-Weert route and will last until 2 March. ProRail will replace sleepers, rails and ballast (rail gravel) here. This makes train traffic impossible. Local residents may also experience nuisance. In order to cause as little inconvenience to travelers as possible, buses will be used as much as possible. These are express and stop buses. Travelers are knocked down to consult ns.nl in time.
