Burt Young, the interpreter of Paulie in Rocky, has died at the age of 83

Another loss in the world of entertainment. The Italian-American actor Burt Younghistorical interpreter of Paulie Pennino in the Rocky film saga, he died in Los Angeles last October 8 at the age of 83, as announced this morning at New York Times by daughter Anne Morea Steingieser.

After taking part in several films and some TV series, from The gang that couldn’t shoot to Chinatown by Roman Polański, Burt Young gained popularity in 1976 thanks to the film Rocky in which he played Rocky Balboa’s best friend, Paulie Penninoolder brother of the shy Adriana, the protagonist’s love interest.

That role earned him a Oscar nominations for best supporting actor. Young has never stopped collaborating with his friend Sylvester Stallone and over the years he has always reprized the role of Paulie in all the films of the Rocky saga, including Rocky Balboa of 2006. Burt Young was also very active in the field of art. His works of art have been exhibited in galleries all over the world and as an artist he collaborated with the writer Gabriele Tinti to create the cover of one of his collections of poems. Some of paintings painted by Young they were at the center of a scene in the film Rocky Balboa.
