Burnt-down trucks on A16 towed away, road was closed for hours

The trucks that collided on the A16 near Hazeldonk on Thursday afternoon and caught fire were towed away by the emergency services. Nothing is left of either vehicle. Due to the accident between Breda and the Belgian border, the road from Belgium was closed until half past twelve.

It was previously reported that the road would be open again around 10 a.m., but emergency services needed much longer to clear.

The remains of the trucks were removed with a hoist. The havoc arose on Thursday afternoon after a collision between the two trucks, which transported milk and electric cars. A huge fire followed.

Another truck came in front of the truck that was filled with milk. The remainder of the burnt-out vehicle is pumped into it. According to a 112 correspondent, the asphalt has also been severely damaged by the fire.

Completely closed
Both directions of the A16 were closed for about an hour and a half. When the fire was extinguished, the lanes in the direction from Brabant to Belgium reopened.

Shortly after the accident, it was reported that one of the drivers was trapped. The drivers eventually escaped unscathed.
