The A28 near Meppel was closed in both directions this evening. People with tractors gathered at Rogat earlier in the evening and dumped debris on the highway around 9:30 p.m., which was set on fire. That caused a traffic jam in both directions.
Large bags of unknown contents, tractor tires, agricultural plastic and straw bales were dumped on the road and set on fire. The fire brigade from Meppel and Ruinerwold was called in to extinguish the flames and they succeeded within the hour. A police spokesperson said he knew nothing.
