Burned out truck on A27 causes busy morning rush hour

The A27 from Gorinchem towards Breda was completely closed at Nieuwendijk from half past seven to a quarter past eight on Tuesday morning. That was due to a burning truck near Hank. The clearing took a little longer than expected, but the left lane has now been cleared. Rijkswaterstaat hopes to be able to fully open the road around half past twelve.

Traffic from Breda to Utrecht is also experiencing delays. There is a viewer file there.

The truck caught fire around 7 a.m. The right lane was then closed initially. This led to a traffic jam of seven kilometers from the Avelingen industrial area around a quarter past seven in the morning, causing a delay of more than half an hour. Cleaning up the vehicle takes a little longer than expected. A second recovery company will even have to be added. The road surface must then be cleaned.

Detour
The complete closure of the highway led to 14 kilometers of traffic jams around eight o’clock. The ANWB warned at that time of more than an hour and a half of delay.

Traffic will be diverted from the Gorinchem junction.

Trailer
The truck’s trailer was completely burned out. What was being transported in the trailer has not been disclosed.
