Borussia Dortmund apparently remains seated on Roman Bürki. On the last day of the winter transfer phase, BVB had already agreed with a buyer, but a deal should now be off the table.
After Roman Bürki’s rumored change from BVB to Galatasaray burst, the chance of transferring the degraded ex-main goalkeeper to Ligue 1 has apparently failed. According to “Blick” reporter Andreas Böni, the BVB keeper will not switch to FC Lorient in Ligue 1. Several media had previously reported on a possible loan.
So reported “The Athletic” and the usually well-informed “Ruhr News” the interest of the French, a request is available to BVB, it said. In addition, there is said to have been a conversation between Bürki and sports director Michael Zorc on Monday at the Borussia training ground in Dortmund-Brackel.
However, the paper wrote of a “race against time” as the transfer window in France closes at 11:59 p.m. According to “Sky”, BVB and FC Lorient had already agreed on a loan. So the ball was in the hands of the goalkeeper, because the Swiss would probably have earned less money with the French first division club than with BVB (around five million euros).
Ultimately, everything was “too short-term for a reasonable decision,” writes “Blick” journalist Böni.
FC Lorient not interested in Roman Bürki at all?
A completely different message is circulating in southern Europe. The Portuguese newspaper “Record” reports that Lorient wants to try for Benfica replacement keeper Hèlton. The Brazilian is initially talking about a loan deal until the end of the season.
So far, however, it has been confirmed that Lorient is looking for a new goalkeeper. The local daily newspaper “Le Télégramme” writes about a demoting of the previous goalkeeper Paul Nardi and claims that the club is urgently looking for a replacement for the second half of the season. However, it is still unclear who will ultimately be awarded the contract.
Will BVB sit on Bürki again?
Due to the latest developments, BVB will probably be stuck with Bürki again. At the weekend, his supposed move to Galatasaray was reported as almost perfect.
Talks and negotiations were mentioned in the Turkish and German media. In the end, however, the transfer did not take place.
