Burglars make off with cash and Mercedes at ex-chairman KV Kortrijk: “Someone photographed my car last week” | Kortrijk

KortrijkIn the night from Friday to Saturday, the pharmacy and home of lawyer and ex-chairman of KV Kortrijk Joseph Allijns was broken into. The perpetrators made off with cash and the Mercedes 220. “The feeling that the perpetrators have come very close while you are sleeping is not pleasant,” says Allijns.

Halfway through 2012, Joseph Allijns and his wife already had to deal with a burglary attempt at the Pottelberg in Kortrijk. He runs a law firm there, his wife a pharmacy in the Rodenburg district. The couple also lives there. “We heard nothing about the break-in,” Joseph says. “Yet they must have come close to our bedroom door. That gives a dirty feeling.”

The break-in was not discovered until Saturday morning. “Wallets, cash and keys to the Mercedes have disappeared from my wife’s handbag. They also took the cash register with change in the pharmacy. They also ran off with the car keys. The perpetrators worked very professionally because they also pulled the plug on the camera surveillance. We do not have camera images for the time being, but we will still try to recover them via the computer.”

The Mercedes with number plate 1-VHA-300 could be detected in the direction of Tournai at 5.12 am. “I fear that he has left for France,” said Joseph. “Still, I hope that the car and the wallets can still be found. I can’t shake the impression that everything was well prepared. And then I think back to someone who photographed my car in Menen last week. I don’t know if there is a link, but that’s what you think about. For my wife and me, the sense of security is now gone for a while.”
