Burberry appoints new chief financial officer

Kate Ferry has been appointed to the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Burberry.

In this position, Ferry will be responsible for finance and business services as a board member, the British fashion house announced on Wednesday. She will take up her new position at the beginning of September at the latest.

She comes from the British automotive company McLaren Group, where she has been CFO for the past two years. Before that she worked as Group CFO at UK internet provider TalkTalk Telecom Group PLC.

“Kate brings extensive experience in public markets, business transformation and development, and an excellent understanding of the luxury industry,” said Burberry CEO Jonathan Akeroyd. “She is a strong addition to our leadership team and I look forward to her supporting this next phase of Burberry’s development.”

Ferry succeeds Julie Brown, who is currently Burberry’s Chief Operating and Financial Officer. At the end of September it was announced that Brown would be leaving the company in early April after more than six years. From April, Ian Brimicombe, who is currently Senior Vice President, Specialist Finance and Projects, will assume the role of interim CFO on an interim basis.
