Hélène Hendriks asked a dubious question about one of the victims of The Voice of Holland in her talk show HLF8 yesterday. “Critics say she keeps changing her story.”
The story of Nienke Wijnhoven about her nasty experience with Jeroen Rietbergen behind the scenes of The Voice of Holland is considered so credible and demonstrable by the Public Prosecution Service that it has been decided to prosecute. The former band leader of The Voice and lover of Linda de Mol is suspected of rape.
Dubious question
Hélène Hendriks, who arouses a lot of anger with her conservative views on transgressive behavior, spoke in her talk show yesterday HLF8 about with AD reporter Victor Schildkamp.
At one point, the presenter asks him a rather dubious question, with which she associates the rather courageous Nienke on national television with not acting with integrity. “Critics said yes, but she keeps changing stories. To what extent does that still matter?”
‘That is not true’
Hélène’s question is dubious, because Nienke has not changed her story at all. In fact, since her appearance at Beau, just before she decided to press charges, she has not made any media appearances at all.
Victor reacts surprised: “Well, I don’t know if she keeps changing her story. I think she just has the story of: he took me with an excuse and did something I didn’t want. I don’t know what her story was then always different? She kept telling me the same story.”
Very sincere
According to Victor, the suggestion that Hélène makes, hiding behind ‘critics’, is incorrect. “I have spoken to her several times and her story is just very sincere. I am not going to condemn Jeroen Rietbergen here, but that enormous feeling of loneliness… I wish she would go to court.”
Victor finds Nienke credible. “What probably plays a role is that a lot of reports have been made against Jeroen and there are also some reports from people who do have some evidence that he went too far, only they have not filed a report. Yes, then that sum is still made.”
Rape
It is news that Jeroen is now being prosecuted for the rape of Nienke instead of assault. What’s up with that? Her lawyer Sébas Diekstra explains in Inside today: “She had a conversation with the police and the police said: ‘What you are telling us is rape.’”
So her story has not changed, but the police have given it a different qualification. There are people who doubt Nienke’s sincerity, Sébas said in December: “People started rooting around and found an old article stating that they sometimes rusk would like to eat with Rietbergen, and she got a lot of shit on her.”
Nienke’s statement also says very little. After all, many victims of abuse only realize later what actually happened to them. Moreover, during her participation in The Voice, she was only 19 years old.
