Bundestag approves central poisoning register

BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – Cases of poisoning in Germany will be recorded centrally in the future. To this end, the Bundestag decided on Thursday evening to set up a poisoning register at the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR). The central recording provides an overview of the actual poisoning events and closes existing information gaps, according to the Federal Government’s justification. So far, the federal institute and the seven regional poison information centers have been collecting information about poisonings independently of each other, without the data being stored centrally and systematically evaluated./ax/DP/he
