Taiwo Awoniyi is a Union key player and has attracted interest from several clubs. He says himself that he wants to play in England. The dream could come true – for a decent fee.
Taiwo Awoniyi has scored eleven goals so far this Bundesliga season and has drawn attention to himself. Now the striker could leave Union Berlin in the summer – for a decent transfer fee. As “Goal.com” reports, West Ham United, Newcastle United and Southampton FC should be able to imagine a commitment and be prepared to pay up to 30 million euros.
A very high sum for the club at the Alte Försterei. The club signed Awoniyi on a permanent basis from Liverpool last summer for a fee of 6.5 million, having previously been on loan at the Köpenickers.
“The Premier League is my dream”
The offensive player has set himself the goal of playing in the Premier League, as he revealed to “Kicker” in February: “The Premier League is my dream. Everyone knows that, including here in the club.” He also added at the time: “If I lived in England, it would be easier for my wife and child, if only because of the language. Also, my sister and a brother live on the island.”
In 2015, Awoniyi joined Liverpool FC from Imperial Academy (Nigeria). However, the striker was repeatedly loaned out to other clubs before Union signed him in July 2021.
If the Unioner really leaves the club for the sum of 30 million euros, this would be a record for the Köpenicker. So far, Union Berlin has received 6.5 million euros each from the transfers of Sebastian Andersson to 1. FC Köln in 2020 and Robert Andrich to Bayer Leverkusen in 2021.
