Borussia Dortmund’s long search for a central midfielder is over. Marcel Sabitzer changes from FC Bayern to BVB.
runner-up Borussia Dortmund has, as expected, strengthened with Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich. BVB announced this on Monday evening. The Austrian national player signed a contract with Westphalia until 2027. According to media reports, Borussia should transfer around 15 million euros to the title rival.
With the signing of the midfielder, BVB’s week-long search for another replacement for Jude Bellingham, who has moved to Real Madrid, ends. In addition to the approximately 30 million euro former Wolfsburg resident Felix Nmecha, Sabitzer is to direct the Dortmund control center.
The transfer fee for the veteran, who was last loaned to Manchester United and still had a contract with the record champions until 2025, is reported to be 15 million euros plus bonus payments.
Since Sabitzer no longer plays a major role in coach Thomas Tuchel’s plans, the Bayern bosses have apparently agreed to the transfer and will probably let another player move to the title rival a year after Niklas Süle.
