Bundesliga novelty within reach! Youssoufa Moukoko is chasing a record

Both FC Bayern (1-2 against SC Freiburg) and Borussia Dortmund (0-2 against RB Leipzig) will certainly want to forget the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup as soon as possible. The chance to do so is offered by the upcoming 27th match day of the Bundesliga, which Munich and a BVB talent could garnish with a record.

Should BVB coach Edin Terzic rely on the services of youngster Youssoufa Moukoko on Saturday (3:30 p.m.), the 18-year-old would become the youngest player in Bundesliga history to reach the mark of 50 appearances in the German football league.

At 18 years and 139 days, the German international would break the record set by Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz. Wirtz was 18 years and 226 days old when he made his 50th Bundesliga appearance.

Moukokok’s chances of being used shouldn’t be bad. Dortmund’s regular center forward Sébastien Haller has already missed the quarter-finals of the cup due to injury. Donyell Malen, ordered by Terzic to the center of the attack, disappointed across the board.

FC Bayern can top their own record

FC Bayern is also disappointed after being eliminated from the cup competition, but on Saturday (3:30 p.m.) the Munich team immediately have the chance to pay SC Freiburg back.

Incidentally, if the German record champions scored a goal in the first 45 minutes during their guest appearance in Breisgau, they would set their own record. Two goals would have set a record seven games before the end of the season.

In the 2020/21 season, FC Bayern set the existing record of 52 goals in the first half, but that value should be history after the current season.

Incidentally, the Munich team last scored two goals in the first half on March 4th, 2018 in Freiburg. In the end you won 4:0.
