The German Football League (DFL) has rescheduled the game between Mainz 05 and Union Berlin that was canceled due to snowfall.
The canceled Bundesliga game between Mainz 05 and Union Berlin will be rescheduled on Wednesday, February 7th at 6:30 p.m. – immediately before the DFB Cup quarter-final between 1. FC Saarbrücken and Borussia Mönchengladbach. The DFL announced this on Monday afternoon.
The game was actually supposed to have been played last Friday (January 19th) in Mainz. However, the risk was too great for the stadium operating company because large parts of the arena, especially the standing areas, were covered with black ice.
This was the second loss of the season for Union
It was the second away game for the Berlin team that was canceled due to weather this season. The Köpenick team’s game against record champions FC Bayern Munich was canceled at the beginning of December last year due to the severe onset of winter in the Bavarian capital. It will be rescheduled next week on January 24th (8:30 p.m.).
