Bundesliga – Kiel’s handball players work out a 35:31 home win over Stuttgart

Kiel (dpa) – THW Kiel has at least temporarily thrown itself back to second place in the handball Bundesliga. The defending champion had to work hard before the 35:31 (17:19) home win against TVB Stuttgart was wrapped up.

Three days after losing to HSG Wetzlar, the Kiel team also had a hard time against the guests from Baden-Württemberg. The Stuttgart had an answer ready for every defense formation of the “zebras”. In the 33rd minute, Adam Lönn gave the TVB their first four-goal lead with 21:17. Only in the 43rd minute did Hendrik Pekeler manage the hosts’ first lead at 26:25.

Flensburg wins

SG Flensburg-Handewitt got into the game well at 27:24 (13:11) over MT Melsungen. First Hampus Wanne scored to 9: 6 (18th), then Kevin Möller fended off a seven-meter throw from Melsungen’s international Timo Kastening. As a result, the lead increased to 11: 7 (25th). Melsungen came up to a goal several times, but the Flensburg team brought victory over time.

HC Erlangen celebrated a clear 36:26 (18:14) victory over the once more disappointing Rhein-Neckar Löwen. Frisch Auf Göppingen defeated TSV Hannover-Burgdorf with 34:32 (18:18). The bottom group, GWD Minden, was defeated by HSG Wetzlar with 23:24 (10:12) after two wins in a row.
