Handball Bundesliga club TSV GWD Minden is parting ways with coach Frank Carstens after eight years at the end of the season.
As the third-bottom of the table, threatened with relegation, announced, the expiring contract with the 51-year-old will not be extended.
The former Ostwestfalen player, who played for Minden from 2000 to 2003, took over as coach in February 2015. The club left it open who would take over from Carstens.
“It’s not easy letting go of a coach who has been with the club for so many years. But we agreed that we want to break new ground,” said managing director Nils Torbrügge.
“With the change in management last year, our shareholders initiated a structural change that we will now continue at the level of sporting management.”
