Finn Dahmen’s contract with Mainz 05 expires at the end of the season. Several Bundesliga clubs are already preparing to sign the goalkeeper for the next season. After speculation about a move to FC Schalke 04, the circle has now expanded: Hertha BSC should also be interested.
Finn Dahmen is spoiled for choice: According to “Sky”, the former U21 international has five inquiries. FC Schalke 04, Hertha BSC and FC Augsburg are mentioned by name. Most recently, “transfermarkt.de” reported on Schalke advertising, so PSV Eindhoven should also be interested in the 24-year-old.
It is not known which of the clubs has the best cards so far. According to “Sky” information, however, it is clear: Finn Dahmen’s career will certainly not continue at Mainz 05. The 1.88 meter tall Wiesbadener had already announced last October that he was looking for a new challenge in order to finally get regular match practice.
Hertha BSC, FC Schalke 04 and FC Augsburg are fighting for relegation
In the current season, Finn Dahmen is fighting with Robin Zentner for the place between the posts. The Mainz native made his debut in the Bundesliga in 2020/21 and has made eight competitive appearances this season.
Mainz coach Bo Svensson relied on the services of the Wiesbaden player between the 16th and 21st match day when regular Robin Zentner had to pass due to back problems. Since the 28-year-old has been fit again, Dahmen has moved back into the second row.
For Dahmen, when choosing a club, it probably also depends on the league they belong to. Both Hertha BSC and FC Schalke 04 and FC Augsburg are in the midst of a relegation battle in the Bundesliga. Mainz 05, on the other hand, are currently seventh in the table and are currently knocking on international business.
