Bundesliga: Gikiewicz grabs stretcher

Augsburg (AP) – Rafal Gikiewicz didn’t go fast enough. In an aerial duel, Fürth striker Jessic Ngankam and Augsburg midfielder Niklas Dorsch clashed heads. Dorsch landed unhappily with his left shoulder hard on the grass and remained lying there.

Augsburg’s goalkeeper Gikiewicz took too long in the first half of the Bundesliga game for the paramedics to come onto the pitch with the stretcher. So the Pole himself ran to the rescue workers, took the stretcher from them and rushed to his stricken teammate.

Gikiewicz also helped lift the midfielder onto the stretcher. Dorsch had to be substituted for Carlos Gruezo in the 39th minute. The 24-year-old broke his collarbone, as a spokesman announced shortly after half-time.
