Bundesliga: Eintracht Frankfurt wins in Gladbach – Neuhaus misses the World Cup

Interruption after technical breakdown

Eintracht Frankfurt celebrated a comfortable win at Borussia Mönchengladbach and moved up to a place in the Champions League in the Bundesliga table. In front of the eyes of national coach Hansi Flick, the Hessians prevailed 3-1 (3-0) on Saturday evening and are now fourth in the table with 20 points.

Jesper Lindström (6th/45th minute) and Éric Dina Ebimbe (29th) scored for coach Oliver Glasner’s team. While Eintracht gained self-confidence for the game in the “premier class” against Olympique Marseille on Wednesday, the Gladbachers suffered their third defeat of the season and are four points behind the Europa League winners in ninth place. Marcus Thuram scored the goal for the hosts (72nd minute).

In the final phase, the game was temporarily interrupted for a curious reason. A glitch in a camera above the field meant several stadium workers spent minutes clearing dangling cables. Added time was nine minutes.

Neuhaus has to pass injured: World Cup in Qatar is no longer an issue

Gladbach’s international Florian Neuhaus will miss the World Cup in Qatar as expected. “The World Cup is just around the corner, unfortunately that won’t quite work out in time,” said the professional on “Sky” before the game started. “For me, the priority now is for my knee to heal completely.” The 25-year-old suffered a partial tear in his cruciate ligament a few weeks ago and recently returned to running training. But it had been clear to him for a long time that the World Cup would not work, said the midfielder. The World Cup in Qatar starts on November 20th.
