Cologne’s coach Steffen Baumgart has called for a new strategy in dealing with pyrotechnics.
“The problem is definitely not going to be solved the way we’re going about it at the moment, we see that every weekend. So maybe some smart people should sit down and think about a different strategy.”said Baumgart of the sports show.
“The solution cannot be that we just ban it all the time”
You have to find a reasonable solution slowly, said the coach. “The solution can’t be that we just ban it, we have to find a solution with the guys. At the moment it always seems that the fronts are so hardened that we can’t find a solution and I think if you can because we don’t approach each other, because that’s not a problem for us, it’s a general problem, then I don’t think we’ll find a solution.”
Cameraman injured by pyrotechnics
During the Bundesliga game between Borussia Dortmund and 1. FC Köln (6: 1), a cameraman from the TV station “Sky” was injured in the eye by pyrotechnics. Commentator Wolff-Christoph Fuss said this during the live broadcast of the game. Shortly after half-time, firecrackers and Bengal lights were set off in the Cologne fan block. “We’re sorry about the cameraman. I hope he’s okay,” said Baumgart.
