Bundesliga club extends contract with coach Sebastian Hoeneß

Sebastian Hoeneß will remain at VfB Stuttgart. The coach has extended his contract early.

VfB Stuttgart has extended the contract with its successful coach Sebastian Hoeneß for another two years. The agreement with the 41-year-old, who was previously considered a candidate to succeed Thomas Tuchel at FC Bayern, now runs until 2027. The contract of assistant coach David Krecidlo, who came to Stuttgart together with Hoeneß, was also extended Extended 2027.

Hoeneß took over the Swabians last April and transformed them from a relegation candidate into a serious contender for the Champions League. After 24 match days, VfB is in third place in the Bundesliga.

“Together we have managed to lead VfB on a good path. Our goal must be to follow this path sustainably in order to permanently establish VfB in the top half of the table again,” said Hoeneß.

Sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth added: “I can say it without further ado: the early extension of the contract with Sebastian Hoeneß is as important for our further sporting development as no other personnel in the club at the moment.”
