The Bundesliga basement duel between FSV Mainz 05 and Union Berlin, which was canceled due to the extreme onset of winter, will be rescheduled for February 7th (6:30 p.m./DAZN). The German Football League (DFL) announced this on Monday.
The game on matchday 18 was originally scheduled to take place last Friday. However, due to the weather conditions with snow and ice as well as the safety risks in the Mainz Arena and on the travel routes, it could not take place.
The news of the cancellation reached the Berliners the day before the actually planned event, in time for their departure to Mainz.
The Köpenickers are preparing for the guest appearance at Bayern Munich on Wednesday (8:30 p.m./Sky). The duel against the record champions, originally scheduled for the beginning of December, was also postponed due to the onset of winter.
